If someone would have mentioned to me that I would be an aspiring public speaker, I would not have believed them. I think that the beauty of life is that every choice or opportunity, even every rejection, leads you down a new path. My dream of working in education has spawned into a journey that I never would've considered if I hadn't dreamt that, seemingly, simple dream of being a teacher.

Last year, I set a goal for 2025 to land one speaking gig. In December 2024, I worked on and submitted a proposal to a national conference. It was ambitious, and, unfortunately, did not get accepted. What I gained from that experience was the realization that I can write a really well-written proposal, and that I believe in myself enough to make ambitious moves.

In the end, I signed on to speak at a local conference and it is in about a month. I am so grateful for the opportunity, and I am excited to see what I learn in the process of preparing for, and delivering this presentation.
